In the provincial domain of Bulskampveld, Claire Stragier will create a bird-only art space, Economy for birds. At the basis of her project is the observation that birds and humans often share the same food sources, like oat, flax, buckwheat. Therefore, in agriculture, birds are considered a nuisance, a threat to the crops. In winter, however, we feed garden birds with the same seeds, this time bought in store.

Starting from May 2020, Stragier will create an outdoor exhibition for birds that combines grain vegetation with new architectural elements inspired by 18th century garden follies. The Bulskampveld birds can trade their safety and invisibility for food, water and possibly an artistic experience. Humans stand on the sidelines to observe.
